Luminous Mysteries are part of the Mysteries of the Rosary and are meditations on episodes of the life of Jesus, Annunciation to the Ascension and beyond.

The Mysteries that are grouped by five into sets, the Joyful, the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries. Listed below are the luminous mysteries, or mysteries of the light as they are sometimes named, they are usually prayed on Thursdays. Pope John Paul II added The Mysteries of Light, also known as the Luminous Mysteries, in 2002:The Baptism in the River Jordan (Matthew 3:13–16); The Wedding Feast at Cana (John 2:1–11); The Preaching of the coming of the Kingdom of God (Mark 1:14–15); The Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1–8); The Institution of the Holy Eucharist (Matthew 26).
With a Rosary the fingers are moved along the beads as the prayers are recited, the mind should be left free to meditate on the mysteries. A five decade rosary contains five groups of ten beads (a decade), with additional large beads before each decade.The Hail Mary is said on the ten beads within a decade, while the Lords Prayer is said on the large bead before each decade.

01. The baptism of Jesus in the Jordan.
Although He was and is the sinless Son of God, Jesus permitted John the Baptist to baptize Him.
02. The wedding at Cana.
Jesus instructed the servants to fill some huge pots with water. Because of Mary's advice they obeyed. He told them then to draw some water from the freshly filled pots and take it to the head servant. They again obeyed and were amazed to see that the water was miraculously turned into wine.
03. Jesus proclamation of the kingdom of God.
Christ was not deterred by threats of punishment. He shouted out the Truth and was willing to suffer for it.
04. The transfiguration.
The transfiguration announces Christ's Resurrection, the final victory of light over darkness, life over death.
05. The institution of the Eucharist.
Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, 'Take, eat; this is my body"
