The practice of astrology from ancient times, is said to predict your fate and fortune is based on the positions of the Sun, Moon, stars and planets.
Zodiac Signs
Over the course of a year, the Sun appears to pass through a belt of sky containing twelve ancient constellations, or groupings, of stars. These twelve constellations are collectively known as the zodiac.
The number of constellations in the Western zodiac comes from the cycles of the Moon, which orbits the Earth about twelve and a half times a year. Roughly speaking, the Sun appears against a different constellation every new Moon (opposite of full moon, where the moon is lined up with the sun from the point of the observer so is not lit up), then stars forming a distant backdrop to the Sun. You can know what constellation the Sun is in by looking at the night time sky. There you will see the opposite constellation.
